Monday nights, 6PM, at Awesome Inc., we meet up to expose ourselves to indie games. C’mon out and look at how small game designers are pushing the medium, or bring something we can play!

This week we played Last Case: the Disappearance of Amanda Kane and Three Fourths Home Extended Edition.

Last Case: The Disappearance of Amanda Kane

Made for the Adventure Jam by Affinity Play, Last Case: the Disappearance of Amanda Kane is a short adventure game in a unique style with a narrator. The game has some unique and interesting work around’s that turn the limitations of a jam game into a strength. Instead of the characters having movement animations, they move in between cinematic fades. It’s an interesting and ultimately successful decision that lends itself well to the overall noir style.

The narrative was primarily delivered by text and subtitles, with the typography becoming a part of the visual style.

The game is currently available for play on Game Jolt.

Three Fourths Home: Extended Edition

threefourthshome

A work of interactive fiction, Three Fourths Home is a story game wherein you play Kelly on her drive home in Nebraska. You have conversations over the phone with your mother, brother, and father. It’s a playable short story, cast in hues of black, white and gray.

The game shines with naturalistic conversation and realistic interactions between characters. You can find Three Fourths Home on Steam.

Bring out your favorite indie game at 6:30PM at Awesome Inc, every Monday.
