Monday nights, 6PM, at Awesome Inc., we meet up to expose ourselves to indie games. C’mon out and look at how small game designers are pushing
the medium, or bring something we can play!
Tonight we played Devastated Dreams and Screencheat.
Devastated Dreams
Devastated Dreams is a narrative exploration horror game featuring a pregnant girl named Angel. The game combines the fears of expectant parenting alongside the world of Filipino folklore and the Aswang. The game has a similar atmosphere to the previous game from the developer Neverending Nightmares. The game is interesting for setting and for the choice to have the protagonist is a pregnant woman.
The game is currently up for funding on Kickstarter where you can access a playable demo.
Screencheat
Screencheat is a game that demands what the title suggests. Made by the fascinatingly named Samurai Punk, Screencheat is a competitive first person shooter where your character is invisible (save for the smoke from firing your gun) and you must check out the opposing split-screens to see where your opponent is so you can go in for the kill.
To make it easier on you, the game has a variety of varied but simple levels that are well executed in a basic graphic style. This allows for you to track down and hunt your friends across a variety of playing fields. Screencheat is currently available on Steam.
Love indie games? Be sure to bring out your favorite indie titles next Monday at 6:30 in the back of Awesome Inc (near the pool table).
