• Indie Game Night 8-31-15

Monday nights, 6PM, at Awesome Inc., we meet up to expose ourselves to indie games. C’mon out and look at how small game designers are pushing
the medium, or bring something we can play!

This week we played Duck Game

    Duck Game

Duck Game is an Adult Swim game about fighting ducks.

Set in the futuristic year of 1984, Duck Game is the wild-child baby of Super Smash Brothers and BroForce. You play a medley of ducks murdering each other with an ever-increasing arsenal of weapons. It’s easy to pick up, perhaps difficult to fully succeed at.

The game is currently available on Steam and Ouya.

    Ennuigi

“Spend some time with a depressed, laconic Luigi as he chain smokes and wanders through a crumbling Mushroom Kingdom, ruminating on ontology, ethics, family, identity, and the mistakes he and his brother have made.”

The game is an extended joke (?) about a chain-smoking Luigi as he wanders around the world of Mario. It is a Pico-8 game, and playable in browser here.

    Bus Crush

Made as a part of the Ludum Dare competition, Bus Crush is a simple game where you take a bus down a series of hills in an attempt to take your passengers from stop to stop. Without killing them. Or crushing the bus. Or getting hit by a train.

The game has a good feel and pretty decent physics for something constructed over the weekend. Just driving the bus is entertaining, while picking up passengers seems to cut into the speedrunning style experience.

The game is available for free on the Ludum Dare website.

    The Trial of Tyrone Rex

    trialoftyronerex

Made at the Ludum Dare RunJumpDev site by Alex Mankin, The Trial of Tyrone Rex is a Phoenix Wright inspired court mystery with stop-motion (esque) plastic dinosaurs against a cardboard background. The strengths are the voice work and the art.

The game is playable at the Ludum Dare website.

Have a game you want to play? Bring it out next week at 6:30 PM at Awesome Inc.
