Visualizing Your Game Design – Presented by Chris Bruser
Having spent 11 years in the game industry as a game designer, I’ve worked on many different games under many different circumstances. A common thread through all of them was the challenge of having both internal and external team members invested in the ideas being discussed or currently in development. Especially when a project was in its infancy and a playable proof-of-concept doesn’t exist yet; or when budgets and time constraints hinder the ability to develop an informative prototype.
Written game designs have traditionally been incorporated to fill this gap, but in my experience, they didn’t always (1) enable the team to ask the right questions (2) see the glaring flaws in their design until it was too late. In my talk, I’ll highlight some of the approaches I’ve taken, as a game designer, to address these problems and make better games in the process.
