Monday nights, 6PM, at Awesome Inc., we meet up to expose ourselves to indie games. C’mon out and look at how small game designers are pushing the medium, or bring something we can play!
This week we played Skyhook, Manhunt, You Found the Grappling Hook,
Skyhook is a 2-4 deathmatch game coming soon for PC, Mac and OUYA. We played a Beta version of the game today. The game was incredibly reminiscent of Towerfall in art style, and you can play as a shark. However, the grappling hook mechanic was not a streamlined as one would like in this sort of game, and the dodging felt incredibly confusing and occasionally dangerous.
You can find more information about the game on their website.
Manhunt is a game about pushing several women through a series of jungle obstacles to get to some huts and have some babies. The premise is kind of…problematic, in that you play 35 year old women whose biological clocks that are ticking. The game is really well polished, especially for a 48 hour jam and the art is quite cute.
You can find the game on the Global Game Jam site.
A game from the incomparable Messhof, You Found the Grappling Hook is an interesting mechanic (you have a grappling hook) with a masocore approach to difficulty. The difficulty curve is a bit unforgiving, and it has a few qualities of a traditional Messhof game.
You can play You Found the Grappling Hook on Messhof’s site.
You can bring your favorite indie games next week and play with us at Indie Game Night.
